Though he may get mad at me one day for posting these, I just couldn't resist. Brendan loves to play hockey with Daddy. In fact, he wants to play this literally every day. He wakes up in the morning and after saying, "Morning, Mommy" or "Morning, Daddy", his next line is almost always "hockey puck" or "hockey stick." You could say he's almost as dedicated as his Daddy is. On occasion he will ask us to open his "manimals" (that's Brendan-speak for animals) that are kept in a plastic container. He can't open it himself. So we do, and usually leave him to it. Mostly he plays with the animals in his room, but on days when he's feeling creative he'll come running out of the room with the container on his head! The first time I witnessed this, he grabbed his stick and puck and when I asked him what was on his head, his reply was: "hockey melmet, Mommy" (Brendan-speak translation: hockey helmet, mommy). He likes to wear his "helmet" every once in awhile, and we hope that his head doesn't grow too big one day and we have to take a trip to the ER to have it removed. What a story that would be!
